Musawah Organization: Houthi Militias Kidnap 9 Civilians in Dhamar in 24 Hours
[09/04/2026 02:43]

MARIB – SABA
Musawah Organization for Rights and Freedoms has revealed that the Houthi terrorist militias, backed by the Iranian regime, abducted nine civilians across several districts in Dhamar Governorate over the past 24 hours, most of whom are educational staff.

In a statement received by Yemeni Saba, the organization explained that the abduction campaign included: Khaled Ahmed al-Sarahi (50), Abdulelah Mohammed al-Houli (48), Ibrahim Ahmed al-Najdi (50), Abdullah Mohammed Hala (42), Mohammed Ismail al-Rakhmi (57), Ali Ahmed Jabal (56), Ahmed Lotf (60), Adel al-Sheikh (58) and Ali Zandal (40).

The organization pointed out that more than 100 civilians from Dhamar Governorate are still detained, suffering from serious health and psychological conditions in the militia's prisons.

Among them are 19 young men facing death sentences since April 2020, and 55 civilians, including elderly individuals, who have been detained since October 2025.

Additionally, three teachers have been imprisoned for nearly ten years, while five others have been forcibly disappeared since 2015.

The organization confirmed that this campaign is part of a systematic policy pursued by the militias to terrorize civilians and silence them, through home raids, intimidation of families and confiscation of property.

It stressed that these practices constitute compound crimes, including arbitrary detention, enforced disappearance, violation of the sanctity of homes, and breaches of international laws and conventions, including the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights and the International Convention for the Protection of All Persons from Enforced Disappearance.

The organization called for the immediate and unconditional release of the abductees, holding the militia leadership fully responsible for their lives and physical and psychological safety.

It also urged the international community to take serious action and implement deterrent measures to curb these violations.
