[12/03/2026 09:50]

RIYADH-SABA
Member of the Presidential Leadership Council Lieutenant General Mahmoud al-Subaihi met on Thursday with US Ambassador to Yemen Steven Fagin.

The two parties discussed bilateral relations between the two friendly countries and the latest developments in Yemen and the region.

During the meeting, both parties reviewed aspects of joint cooperation between the Republic of Yemen and the United States and ways to strengthen it in a manner that serves mutual interests.

Efforts aimed at reinforcing security and stability in Yemen and the region were also discussed.

Al-Subaihi praised the United States’ supportive positions to the government of Yemen and its political leadership, as well as its role in deterring terrorist threats posed by the Houthi militias backed by the Iranian regime and the risks these threats pose to regional security and international navigation.

He also reviewed the government’s efforts to implement economic, administrative, and financial reform programs, including the approval of the draft state budget and the government program.

He emphasized that these measures represent a fundamental step toward restoring state institutions and strengthening their ability to meet their essential obligations toward citizens.

Al-Subaihi also expressed appreciation for the fraternal support provided by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the Yemeni people, including its continued economic and development assistance and its efforts to enhance stability and improve living and service conditions in the liberated governorates.

He also condemned the aggressive Iranian attacks targeting the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and several countries in the region, stressing that such hostile acts constitute a clear violation of international law and a direct threat to security and peace.

He confirmed the United States’ commitment to continuing coordination with regional and international partners to support reform efforts and fulfill the aspirations of the Yemeni people to restore state institutions, security, stability and development.
