Yemen has affirmed that the Iran-backed Houthi militia poses a direct threat to regional peace and security and to international navigation, saying the group is a tool used to undermine Yemen’s sovereignty and stability, disrupt basic services, and obstruct the delivery of humanitarian assistance to those in need.

Prime Minister holds meeting with EU Mission, Ambassadors of Germany, France, Netherlands

The Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Dr. Shaya Zindani held today, Thursday, a meeting with the Head of the European Union (EU) Mission, Patrick Simonnet and the Ambassadors of France, Katherine Corm Kammoun, Germany, Thomas Friedric and the Netherlands, Jennette Seppen to the Republic of Yemen.

The meeting, which held via video conference, intended to discuss what the EU and the European countries can provide in terms of support to the government's ongoing efforts aimed at fulfilling its program for the year 2026 and the priorities of cooperation in crucial sectors to alleviate the suffering of citizens, in addition to mitigating the potential repercussions on Yemen due to recent events and the military escalation in the region .

The meeting emphasized the importance of intensifying international efforts to support the path of peace and stability in Yemen, enhancing coordination with international partners to support the government's efforts to achieve economic recovery and sustainable development and executing institutional and legislative reforms.

The Prime Minister briefed the European Ambassadors on the latest developments in economic, political, military, security, and humanitarian fields; citing the big challenges imposed by the serious developments in the region and the government's vision for dealing with them.

Dr. Zindani highlighted the importance of the strategic partnership with the EU and European countries, highly appreciating their constant support for Yemen and their commitment to achieving peace and stability.

The head of the EU Mission and the Ambassadors of France, Germany and the Netherlands confirmed their full support for the government and their endorsement of the efforts it is undertaking, as well as its clear plans to move forward with the comprehensive reform agenda, including the approval of the budget for the fiscal year 2026.

They stated that they are keen to continue cooperating with the Yemeni government to contribute toward supporting the reform program and improving the living conditions of citizens.
