Leadership Council Member Al-Aradah Discusses Political, Economic Developments with EU Ambassadors
[16/02/2026 02:50]
RIYADH-SABA
Member of the Presidential Leadership Council, Major General Sultan al-Aradah, held talks today with ambassadors of European Union member states accredited to Yemen, focusing on recent political, economic, and humanitarian developments and avenues for strengthening bilateral cooperation.

The meeting brought together the Head of the EU Delegation to Yemen and ambassadors and representatives of EU member states, who reviewed areas of political, economic, and humanitarian collaboration.

Discussions centered on enhancing European support to help the government address pressing challenges, including improving basic services, stabilizing the national currency, reinforcing state institutions, and expanding relief and sustainable development programs.

Al-Aradah welcomed the ambassadors and reaffirmed the Presidential Leadership Council’s commitment to deepening ties with the EU in support of shared interests and ongoing efforts to restore state institutions and consolidate security and stability.

He described the partnership with the European Union as a key pillar in navigating the country’s exceptional circumstances.

He commended the EU and its member states for their continued political and humanitarian backing, noting that European assistance has played an important role in alleviating the humanitarian crisis.

Addressing security concerns, al-Aradah said the Iran-backed Houthi militia continue to undermine peace efforts through military escalation and obstruction of regional and international initiatives.

He warned that attacks on maritime corridors and global trade routes pose a direct threat to regional and international security, as well as to the global economy.

He emphasized the importance of sustained international political and economic pressure on the militias, expressing hope that the international community would intensify its efforts to uphold its moral and legal responsibilities toward the Yemeni people.

He stressed that international complacency has emboldened the militias and hindered progress toward ending the conflict.
