"MASAM" removes 4 thousand 0f Houthis-laid landmines, UXO in two weeks

King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center's Demining Project in Yemen, known as "MASAM" managed to remove 4006 of landmines, unexploded ordnances (UXO) and Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) during the previous two weeks of February.

The Operations Room of the MASAM stated in a press release that during this period, the technical teams removed 2,794 UXO, 1,176 anti-tanks and 21 anti-personnel landmines and 15 IED.

The demining teams managed the second week of February to clear 320,860 square meters of land, while the total area cleared from the beginning of the month until February 13 reached 638,086 square meters.

The Project manager Osama al-Qusaibi confirmed that since the MASAM started its mission at the end of June 2018 until February 13, 2026, the project teams have successfully removed 541,511 of landmines, UXO and IED..

Al-Qusaibi stated that the demining teams removed 375,773 UXO, 150,286 anti-tanks and 7,075 anti-personnel landmines and 8,377 IED.

Up to clear 77,846,433 square meters of Yemeni land were cleared since the start of the project, he added.
