TAIZ-SABA
Taiz Governor Nabil Shamsan on Saturday inaugurated the first Yemenia Airways flight operating via Mocha International Airport, in a move aimed at easing citizens’ suffering and facilitating air travel within the governorate and neighboring areas.
Following the inauguration, Governor Shamsan toured the airport’s halls and departments, met with a number of passengers and airport staff, and reviewed details of the inaugural flight bound for King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony—attended by executive office directors, Mocha District Director Sultan Mahmoud, and members of the local council—Governor Shamsan described the opening and operation of the airport as a “great and unprecedented day” in the history of Taiz Governorate and the liberated areas. He noted that the airport represents one of the most vital gateways for serving citizens and revitalizing the city and the governorate.
Governor Shamsan pointed out that work on establishing the airport continued for more than six years, praising the efforts and attention of His Excellency President Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, as well as Presidential Leadership Council Member Tareq Mohammed Saleh in bringing the project to fruition.
He added that what was once viewed as a distant dream has now become a tangible reality, stressing that the airport will provide services to citizens from Taiz and other governorates.
He also highlighted the high level of organization and smooth procedures within the airport terminals, commending the significant efforts of the Director General of Mocha International Airport and all airport personnel, alongside the local authority in Mocha City and staff from customs and port services.
