Presidential Leadership Council Member Dr. Abdullah al-Alimi Receives Chargé d’Affaires of Chinese Embassy

Member of the Presidential Leadership Council, Dr. Abdullah al-Alimi received Wednesday Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China to Yemen Zhao Zheng.

He discussed with him latest developments in Yemen and prospects for strengthening cooperation between the two friendly countries.

The meeting reviewed political, security and economic developments, as well as ongoing efforts to consolidate stability in the liberated governorates, improve basic services and enhance the capacity of state institutions to carry out their duties, in a way that helps alleviate citizens’ suffering and supports the recovery process.

Dr. al-Alimi emphasized that the requirements of the current phase necessitate strengthening national unity and integrating efforts with a high sense of responsibility, ensuring the resilience of the internal front and protecting the path toward stability. He stressed that the national priority lies in reactivating state institutions from within and moving toward the formation of a national technocratic government capable of confronting all challenges.

He praised the effective role played by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in supporting Yemen through its efforts to promote national consensus and bring together various components, in addition to its economic and development contributions and its sponsorship of the Southern Dialogue process, all of which enhance prospects for stability, ease citizens’ suffering, and support efforts to restore the state and build its institutions.

He also commended the historical relations between Yemen and the People’s Republic of China, China’s supportive stance toward Yemen and its legitimacy, and its keenness to strengthen bilateral cooperation in development and economic fields, as well as to support efforts to achieve peace and stability.

For his part, the Chargé d’Affaires of the Chinese Embassy affirmed his country’s commitment to supporting the Presidential Leadership Council and the Yemeni government, and to backing efforts aimed at enhancing political and economic stability.

He reiterated China’s firm position in support of Yemen’s unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, and its commitment to working with regional and international partners to support peace process.
