Member of the Presidential Leadership Council and Governor of Hadramout Salem al-Khanbashi met Wednesday with Ambassador of the United States to Yemen Steven Fagin.

He discussed with him a number of issues of mutual interest and latest developments in the overall situation in Hadramout.

The two sides reviewed recent security and military developments in Hadramout, efforts to secure the coastline by the Coast Guard forces, and the role played by anti-smuggling forces in combating smuggling in all its forms, as well as confronting terrorist groups in a manner that preserves the security of the governorate and vital maritime corridors.

The meeting also addressed the needs of Hadramout Governorate in the security, service, and development sectors, and the importance of supporting efforts aimed at enhancing stability and improving the level of services provided to citizens.

The member of the Presidential Leadership Council affirmed the local authority’s commitment to strengthening partnership with the international community, supporting counterterrorism and anti-smuggling efforts, and building the capacities of security and military institutions, in a way that serves the security of Hadramout, Yemen, and the region.

During the meeting, Ambassador Fagin was briefed on the outcomes of the procedures for handing over and organizing military camps within the framework of state institutions, contributing to strengthening the rule of law and consolidating security and military stability in the governorate.

The U.S. Ambassador renewed his country’s support for the efforts of the government and the local authority in Hadramout, emphasizing the importance of continued cooperation and coordination in the security fields, in a way that helps support stability and peace.
