The Ministry of Electricity and Energy stated that the Emirati company Global South Utilities (GSU) abruptly shut down the solar power plants in Aden and Shabwa without prior coordination with the ministry or local authorities.

In a statement, the ministry explained that the action was taken without technical justification or operational notices, causing disruption to the power generation system and affecting the stability of electricity services, especially during daytime hours that rely heavily on solar energy. It added that it had not received any official correspondence clarifying the reasons for the shutdown or its expected duration.

In this context, the ministry held the company fully responsible for the consequences of this action, calling for the immediate restart of the two plants and adherence to institutional coordination to ensure electricity stability and to avoid unilateral decisions.
