Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Dr. Shaya Zindani discussed Wednesday- via video conference- with the Resident Coordinator of United Nations agencies and organizations operating in Yemen Julian Harnis ways to enhance humanitarian and development cooperation.

The meeting reviewed the areas of work of UN agencies and programs in Yemen, particularly their humanitarian and development interventions, the level of joint coordination with the Yemeni government, and the importance of strengthening this coordination in a manner that contributes to supporting sustainable development efforts and improving humanitarian conditions.

The Foreign Minister expressed Yemeni government’s appreciation for the efforts made by UN organizations and agencies in supporting people and alleviating their suffering, affirming the government’s readiness to enhance aspects of joint cooperation and facilitate the work of UN organizations to ensure that assistance reaches those who deserve it efficiently and effectively.

For his part, the UN Resident Coordinator commended cooperation of the Yemeni government and its facilitation of the work of UN agencies, affirming the organization’s continued commitment to strengthening partnership with the Yemeni government and supporting humanitarian and development efforts in a way that contributes to enhancing stability and alleviating the suffering of the Yemeni people.
