The European Union has renewed its firm and supportive position regarding Yemen’s unity, sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity.
The EU also renewed full support to the Presidential Leadership Council and the government of Yemen.
The EU’s spokesperson for foreign and security policy, Anouar El Anouni, said in a press statement that “the Union is closely and attentively following developments in the situation in Yemen, particularly in the southern part of the country,” reiterating the call for de-escalation and dialogue and welcoming all initiatives that contribute to achieving this objective.
He added, “It is necessary to return to an inclusive political track that reconnects Yemen with stability and prosperity."
He emphasized in this context the European Union’s support for strengthening the role of the United Nations and taking constructive steps forward.
The European Union also called on all Yemeni parties to contribute positively to safeguarding these fundamental principles and to work cooperatively in a constructive manner, within the framework of respect for international law and national law.
