ADEN-SABA
A coalition of 65 Yemeni human rights organizations has accused the United Arab Emirates (UAE) of committing grave human rights abuses in Yemen, including extrajudicial killings, arbitrary detention, torture, and forced displacement.
The organizations held the UAE directly responsible for establishing, funding, arming, and managing armed groups in Yemen, which have carried out violent clashes in Hadramaut and Al-Mahra provinces.
The statement urged the international community to take action to address these violations and ensure accountability for those responsible.
The UAE's actions have led to a significant escalation of violence in Yemen, resulting in civilian casualties and widespread destruction.
The organizations demanded independent investigations into the UAE-backed violence, accountability for human rights abuses, and compensation for victims.
They also called for sanctions against UAE officials involved in the abuses and an end to the UAE's military presence in Yemen.
The Yemeni government has been urged to take legal action against UAE officials responsible for the abuses.
The organizations emphasized that the UAE's actions constitute a serious threat to Yemen's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The international community has been called upon to take immediate action to address the humanitarian crisis in Yemen and ensure accountability for those responsible for human rights abuses.
