The Southern Transitional Council (STC) in Yemen has announced its dissolution, in the wake of a failed secession attempt last month.

In a statement, the STC's leadership announced the dissolution, citing recent military action against Hadhramaut and Al-Mahra provinces - which action harmed Southern unity and strained relations with Saudi Arabia - as reasons for the dissolution.

The statement said the STC had not participated in making the decision of Hadhramaut and Al-Mahra invasion. They also cited the need to achieve the Southern cause and pave the way for a comprehensive Southern dialogue under Saudi Arabia's patronage.

The STC's leadership said the dissolution move aims to preserve the Southern people's future and rights, and maintain regional security and stability through participating in a Southern dialogue which Saudi Arabia called for.

The STC leadership urged Southern leaders to participate in the dialogue, seeking a unified framework to address the Southern cause. They thanked Saudi Arabia for hosting the dialogue and supporting the Southern people.
