Yemen has affirmed that the Iran-backed Houthi militia poses a direct threat to regional peace and security and to international navigation, saying the group is a tool used to undermine Yemen’s sovereignty and stability, disrupt basic services, and obstruct the delivery of humanitarian assistance to those in need.

OCHA: 1,228 families displaced from Hadhramaut to Marib

A UN report revealed the displacement of more than a thousand families from Hadramout governorate to Marib governorate, due to the rebellion led by the Southern Transitional Council in Hadramout Governorate.

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) explained in its report that 1,228 families were displaced from Hadramout to Marib due to the events in Hadramout governorate, noting that it provided rapid response assistance to the displaced families who were hosted in Marib city and Marib al-Wadi area, for a total of 1,224 families.

The report highlighted the continued movement of internally displaced persons (IDP) from Hadramaut to Marib.

Updated displacement monitoring data as of December 21, 2025, indicate the ongoing flow of IDP from Hadramaut to Marib due to recent security developments and precautionary movements of affected families.

A total of 1,228 families were identified as recently displaced, the majority of whom are concentrated in Marib city (around 1,110 families) and Marib al-Wadi (around 118 families).

The report cited that rapid protection assessments have shown serious and accumulated risks, including forced displacement, family separation, psychological stress, lack of access to education and inadequate shelter and privacy.
