ADEN-SABA
An authorized government source repudiated the circulated reports regarding the issuance of government directives to close Aden International Airport to air traffic, affirming that the government has not issued any directives to close the airport, nor there is any such decision issued by the leadership of the Coalition to Support Legitimacy.
The source explained that, in coordination with the leadership of the Coalition to Support Legitimacy, the official maritime authorities have adopted limited regulatory measures on certain international destinations subject to periodic review, in support of efforts to reduce escalation, in accordance with the declaration of the state of emergency and the approved inspection mechanisms, and in line with security requirements and compliance with maritime laws.
The source held the South Transitional Council (STC) responsible for any consequences resulting from the directives of the Minister of Transport, who associated with the STC, for closing the airport to flights, describing these directives as irresponsible measures that would exacerbate the suffering of citizens and hinder civil and humanitarian travel.
The source confirmed that the government and the leadership of the Coalition to Support Legitimacy are very keen to alleviating the suffering of citizens and ensuring the continuity of travel while simultaneously maintaining security requirements and preventing any unlawful use of sovereign ports.
The official source reiterated the call to strictly adhere to sovereign decisions, the efforts to reduce escalation led by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, to avoid taking any unilateral steps that would harm the interests of the Yemeni people, linking them to achieving illegitimate political goals and undermining the international maritime procedures in place under the current exceptional circumstances.
