JEDDAH
The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) reaffirmed its firm and principled stance in support of the Republic of Yemen, its sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity, and its categorical rejection of any actions or attempts that could undermine Yemen's unity or affect its constitutional legitimacy and national institutions, in light of recent developments on the Yemeni scene.
In a statement published today, Wednesday, the Secretary-General of the OIC Hussein Taha reiterated the organization's full support for Yemeni legitimacy, represented by the President of the Presidential Leadership Council and the internationally recognized Yemeni government.
Taha expressed his condemnation of any moves or actions taken by the Southern Transitional Council, as they constitute a direct threat to Yemen's unity and undermine peace efforts, prolonging the conflict. Disturbance of Yemen's security and stability constitutes a violation of peace, security and stability in the region, he stressed.
The OIC Secretary General welcomed the announcement of the withdrawal of Emirati forces from Yemen, considering it a constructive step that could support efforts to ease tensions, reduce escalation, and spare the blood of the Yemeni people.
