The Ambassador of Yemen to China, Dr. Mohammed Al-Maitami, met with China's Director-General of West Asian and North African Affairs, Chen Weiqing, in Beijing to discuss Yemen's current political and security situation.
The talks focused on regional and international efforts to support the peace process, enhance security and stability, and restore Yemeni state institutions.
Al-Maitami briefed Chen on recent developments in Yemen, including unilateral actions by the Southern Transitional Council that undermine peace efforts and national unity.
The Yemeni government, led by President Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, reaffirmed its commitment to de-escalation and called for military forces to withdraw from Hadramawt and al-Mahra governorates.
China expressed support for Yemen's unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, and pledged to continue backing political efforts for a comprehensive solution to the crisis.
