The Ministry of Education, the Saudi Program for the Development and Reconstruction of Yemen (SPDRY) and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) signed today, Thursday, a partnership agreement worth $40 million to support basic education and develop the educational infrastructure sector in Yemen.

The agreement aims to enhance access to safe and inclusive education, empower girls and improve the quality of education through teacher training and capacity building, with a focus on the most needy areas in Yemen.

The Minister of Education Tareq Al-Akbari signed the agreement on behalf of the Yemeni government, deeply appreciating the constant support of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Yemen in different fields, including education sector.

Al-Akbari highlighted the significance of the agreement saying 'This agreement targets infrastructure, supporting educational and teaching staff, particularly in the fields of qualification and training, improving the enrollment of rural girls in education and their absorption into the educational and teaching process".

The Assistant General Supervisor of the SPDRY Eng. Hassan al-Attas stated that the Kingdom has provided support for general and higher education, technical and vocational training included 56 educational projects and initiatives in 11 Yemeni governorates.
