Al-Arada Discusses Current Developments with Ambassadors of the United Kingdom, France
[08/12/2025 01:13]

MARIB – SABA
Member of the Presidential Leadership Council, Major General Sultan al-Arada discussed via videoconference with the UK Ambassador to Yemen Abda Sharif and the Ambassador of the French Republic, Catherine Corm-Kammoun the latest developments on the national scene.

The meeting reviewed the current field developments, the challenges facing the country at various levels, and the serious implications of recent events for internal, regional, and international stability.

Al-Arada affirmed that actions taken outside the framework of national consensus provide an opportunity for the Iran-backed Houthi terrorist militia to exploit the situation to expand its influence and undermine national and UN efforts across all tracks.

He noted that the current situation requires intensified international efforts to support the political leadership—represented by His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council—and the government, in a way that helps protect social peace and prevents any steps that might threaten internal unity or hinder efforts to restore the state and its institutions.

He pointed out that the threat posed by the Houthi terrorist militia is no longer limited to Yemen, but has become a direct danger to global economic and commercial interests, within a project that serves the agenda of the Iranian regime and deepens instability in the region.

He called on the international community to adopt a firmer and more effective stance and to stand with the Yemeni people in restoring their state.

Al-Arada reiterated that any political track—domestic or international—must fully adhere to the three fundamental references agreed upon locally, regionally, and internationally: the Gulf Initiative and its implementation mechanism, the outcomes of the National Dialogue Conference and the relevant UN Security Council resolutions foremost among them Resolution 2216.

These, he stressed, form the basis for reaching a just and sustainable solution that preserves Yemen’s stability and stature.

For their part, Sharif and Corm-Kammoun confirmed their countries’ continued support for the Presidential Leadership Council and the government, and their backing of efforts aimed at achieving security and stability in a way that meets the aspirations of the Yemeni people.
