ADEN – SABA
Prime Minister Salem Saleh bin Buraik praised the pivotal role played by the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) in supporting and reinforcing the government’s efforts in the path of comprehensive reforms, responding to current developments, and continuously backing the aspirations of the Yemeni people to complete the restoration of the state and achieve stability and peace.
This came during the Prime Minister’s meeting on Thursday with the GCC Ambassador Sarhan Al-Meneikher, who conveyed the greetings of GCC Secretary-General Jasem Al-Budaiwi and his full support for the reform directives led by the Prime Minister, as well as the Council’s firm position in supporting Yemen and its people across developmental, economic and humanitarian areas.
The meeting discussed prospects and areas of partnership between Yemen and the GCC, and the priorities for the coming stage—foremost among them activating the outcomes of the First National Energy Conference hosted by Aden, in addition to the achievements made in the path of comprehensive reforms and their impact on improving the exchange rate of the national currency and curbing inflation.
The required support to reinforce these successes was also highlighted.
The Prime Minister affirmed that the government is proceeding with firm economic and institutional reforms despite the challenges imposed by the war and the practices of the Houthi militia.
He stressed the importance of continued Gulf support to back these efforts and translate them into tangible results on the ground that contribute to strengthening services and improving citizens’ living conditions.
He pointed out that Yemen is counting on the role of GCC states in supporting sustainable energy projects, developing electrical infrastructure, and introducing practical solutions to reduce production costs and improve network efficiency—steps that would help the country overcome its chronic electricity crisis.
For his part, the GCC Ambassador reaffirmed the Council’s commitment to continuing its support for the Yemeni government and working closely to enhance economic and service stability.
He praised the reforms being implemented and the vital role of the National Energy Conference in establishing a clear national vision for long-term solutions.
