Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, Dr. Mohammed Al-Zaouri, met with UNHCR Protection Officer in Aden, Laize Farias, to discuss strengthening cooperation in protection initiatives.
The meeting focused on the international organization's readiness to contribute to implementing Yemen's "National Child Protection Plan 2026-2029" and coordination mechanisms to enhance child protection, refugee assistance, and host community support.
Minister Al-Zaouri emphasized the significant role UNHCR plays amidst economic challenges and massive refugee influx, highlighting the need for unified efforts to provide humanitarian aid and sustainable services to vulnerable groups.
UNHCR's Protection Officer praised national protection efforts and expressed readiness to cooperate on implementing the child protection plan and signing a memorandum of understanding with the ministry.
