Vice Foreign Minister receives credentials of new UNFPA's Representative ADEN - SABA

Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Mustafa Noman received Monday the credentials of the new representative of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Francesco Galliteri within the framework of strengthening areas of cooperation and partnership between the Yemeni government and United Nations agencies and organizations.

Noman, along with the head of the Central Bureau of Statistics, welcomed Dr. Safaa Maati, the new UN representative.

He expressed wishes for success in his duties.

He stressed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' readiness to provide all necessary facilities to ensure the success of the Fund's programs and activities in Yemen.

The Vice Minister stressed the importance of the role played by the United Nations Population Fund in supporting vital sectors, most notably health, women and youth empowerment and supporting institutional capacities and national statistical programs.

He confirmed need to enhance joint coordination to ensure that support programs are directed in line with the government's priorities and development plans.

He praised the Fund's efforts over the past years and the humanitarian and development interventions it provided.

He stressed importance of continuing these efforts in light of the humanitarian challenges facing our country, and the necessity of activating joint work to ensure that basic services reach those in need in various governorates.

For his part, the new representative of the United Nations Population Fund affirmed his keenness to develop cooperation with the Yemeni government, and to strengthen the Fund's presence and programs in Yemen in a way that contributes to alleviating human suffering and supporting national capacity building.

Noman confirmed government's keenness to continue close cooperation with the United Nations Population Fund and provide the necessary facilities to enable it to implement its programs and projects, in a way that serves the government's priorities and meets the humanitarian and development needs of citizens in various governorates.
