Prime Minister Salem Saleh bin Buraik witnessed on Thursday the signing of a joint Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Electricity and Energy, the Saudi Program for the Development and Reconstruction of Yemen (SDRPY) and the Gulf International Electric Power Company to implement several development projects in the field of electric power in Yemen.
The Memorandum of Understanding signed in the presence of Ambassador of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and General Supervisor of SDRPY, Mohammed bin Saeed Al Jaber, aims to enhance cooperation among the three parties to carry out a number of development projects in the electricity sector and to establish facilities for strategic power plants in Aden, Mukalla, Seiyun and Taiz with a production capacity of up to 300 megawatt in the first phase.
The memorandum, signed on behalf of Yemen by the Minister of Electricity and Energy, Engineer Mani bin Yamin, comes within the framework of brotherly cooperation between Yemen and Saudi Arabia to support sustainable development, improve infrastructure, serve local communities and enhance service quality as part of the government’s comprehensive reform path.
