Member of Presidential Leadership Council Dr. Abdullah al-Alimi Meets UN Envoy to Yemen

RIYADH – SABA
Member of the Presidential Leadership Council, Dr. Abdullah Al-Alimi, met Tuesday with the United Nations Special Envoy to Yemen Hans Grundberg, discussing latest developments and efforts to achieve peace in Yemen.

During the meeting, the UN envoy reviewed the outcomes of his recent consultations and the ongoing efforts to resume the peace process in accordance with the recognized references.

Dr. al-Alimi reaffirmed the Presidential Leadership Council’s and the government’s support for the United Nations’ endeavors toward a just and comprehensive peace based on the three agreed-upon references, led by UN Security Council Resolution 2216.

He emphasized the continued cooperation with UN, regional and international initiatives aimed at alleviating the humanitarian suffering caused by the Houthi terrorist militias.

The Council member also addressed the ongoing violations committed by the Houthi militias against UN staff and humanitarian organizations, including cases of abduction and detention, calling for their immediate and unconditional release and for ensuring the safety of all humanitarian workers.

The UN envoy reaffirmed the United Nations’ commitment to continue its efforts to support the peace process in coordination with regional and international partners to end the suffering of the Yemeni people.
