Minister al-Socotri Discusses with World Bank Delegation Implementation Development Projects

Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation and Fisheries Salem al-Socotri discussed monday with a delegation from the World Bank headed by the Head of the Water Sector in Yemen Dr. Nayef Abu Lahoum and his accompanying delegation the interventions related to the implementation of a number of agricultural projects to be carried out during the coming period.

The two parties discussed the implementation of the most important vital projects, led by Climate and Agricultural Information Systems Project,the Wadi Hajr Basin Project in Hadhramout and the Wadi Tuban Basin Project in Lahj.

Minister al-Socotri emphasized the importance of these development projects in supporting local communities and achieving water and food security, praising the efforts of the World Bank in supporting vital sectors.

He pointed out that these projects will contribute to strengthening the capacities of government institutions and enhancing the efficiency of rural and urban communities in facing the current economic and climatic challenges.

For their part, the members of the World Bank delegation affirmed the organization's keenness to gradually transition from emergency projects to developmental and sustainable projects, in a way that ensures achieving a long-term impact that enhances the resilience of local communities.

They confirmed the continued support of the World Bank for the government’s efforts in developing the agriculture and fisheries sectors and improving the management of water resources.
