Minister of Education, Tariq Al-Akberi, reaffirmed the country's commitment to strengthening cooperation with UNESCO during the organization's 43rd General Conference.

Addressing the assembly, Minister Al-Akberi highlighted Yemen's efforts to protect intangible cultural heritage, combat cultural property smuggling, and forge international partnerships to recover looted artifacts.

He welcomed UNESCO's support for Yemen, noting the registration of 26 Yemeni sites on the tentative World Heritage list, and called for continued collaboration to bolster education systems, preserve cultural heritage, and promote sustainable development.

The Minister also praised UNESCO's past leadership and congratulated newly elected Director-General, Dr. Khaled El-Enany, on his appointment.
