"Masam" removes 4,130 mines, ammunition in three weeks planted by Houthi militias

King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center "Masam" project to clear Yemeni lands of mines removed 4,130 mines, unexploded ordnance and explosive devices, from the beginning of this October until the 24th, planted by the terrorist Houthi militias supported by the Iranian regime in various governorates.

The operations room of the “Masam” mine clearance project in Yemen explained that the project teams were able, from the beginning of this October until the 24th, to remove 4,130 mines, unexploded ordnance, and explosive devices, including 3,786 unexploded ordnance, 272 anti-tank mines, 62 anti-personnel mines, and 10 explosive devices.

Masam Media Office said in a statement that its teams were able, during the past week, to remove 805 mines, unexploded ordnance, and explosive devices from several areas, as part of its ongoing efforts to cleanse Yemeni territory of remnants of war.

The statement indicated that since the beginning of October, Masam's field teams have succeeded in clearing 1,100,201 square meters of Yemeni territory, which was contaminated with mines, which contributed to restoring safety to large residential and agricultural areas.

The director of the Masam Mine Action Project, Osama Al-Gosaibi announced that the project teams were able, from its launch in June 2018 until October 24, to remove 520,629 thousand mines, unexploded ordnance, and explosive devices from various Yemeni regions.

Al-Gosaibi said in an official statement, "During this period, the project teams removed 357,741 unexploded ordnance, 8,287 explosive devices, in addition to 147,654 anti-tank mines and 6,947 anti-personnel mines."

He added, "Masam teams were also able to clear more than 72,012,339 square meters of Yemeni territory that was contaminated with mines, which contributed to saving thousands of lives and restoring safety to large areas of the country".

At the end of his statement, Al-Gosaibi stressed that Masam will continue his efforts until Yemeni lands become free of mines.

He Pointed out that what has been achieved so far is the result of the tireless work and great sacrifices made by the field team in order to protect civilians.
