Ministry of Higher Education, UNESCO sign strategic cooperation

Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research, Technical Education and Vocational Training, Dr. Khaled al-Wosabi signed Sunday a strategic cooperation agreement with the Director of the (UNESCO) Regional Center for Quality and Excellence, Dr. Abdul Rahman Al-Mudayris, to enhance partnership in implementing the Arab model of quality and excellence in education.

The five-year agreement included the exchange of scientific and research publications, the exchange of experts in the fields of administrative and technical capacity building.

It also include implementing educational development programs, providing consultations, research and studies, organizing joint events and activities, in addition to exchanging information and statistical data related to the educational sector, as the University of Aden will be the first academic institution to implement the terms of the agreement, then it will move to other academic institutions.

The agreement includes cooperation with the Hadhramaut Human Development Foundation in the fields of technical education and vocational training.

Minister al-Wosabi praised the importance of the agreement and its role in enhancing the quality of scientific studies and research, in addition to technical, vocational and technological education.

He confirmed ministry's keenness to implement its provisions in a way that contributes to developing the educational process and improving its outcomes in accordance with standards of quality and excellence.

For his part, the President of the University of Aden, Dr. Al-Khader Nasser Lasour, considered that the agreement represents an important step towards developing academic programs and scientific research, and contributes to raising the efficiency of educational cadres and developing the skills of young people in the technical and professional fields.

For his part the Director of the UNESCO Regional Centre for Quality and Excellence stressed the Centre's keenness to enhance regional cooperation and exchange educational and scientific expertise.

He Pointed out that the Center seeks to develop effective partnerships with Yemeni universities under the supervision of UNESCO, in a way that enhances academic development paths in the region.
