Minister of Industry and Trade, Mohammed Al-Ashwal, met with the Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO), Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, on the sidelines of the 16th session of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD)
The two discussed enhancing bilateral cooperation and strengthening partnership in areas related to trade policies and capacity building. Al-Ashwal praised Okonjo-Iweala's leadership and efforts in managing the organization during a critical period.
The Minister highlighted Yemen's commitment to trade openness and fulfilling its obligations as a WTO member, despite the challenges posed by the ongoing conflict.
He emphasized the importance of technical cooperation and capacity building, proposing ideas for a dedicated support mechanism for member states affected by conflicts.
