ADEN-SABA
A report by the Yemeni Network for Rights and Freedoms documented 4896 violations and crimes committed by the Houthi militia against religious activists and places of worship in Yemen from January 1, 2015, to June 30, 2025. These violations include direct killings, physical injuries, bombings, and desecration of mosques and religious institutions.
The report highlighted the militia's systematic targeting of Sunni mosques and centers, including the recent incident at the Sunnah Mosque in Saawan, Sana'a. The Houthi militia has also converted several mosques into detention centers, military barracks, and centers for ideological indoctrination.
The Yemeni Network for Rights and Freedoms condemned the Houthi militia's actions, stating that they reflect a deep-seated ideological and intellectual conflict. The report also highlighted the militia's use of mosques for recruitment and mobilization purposes, forcing children and adults to fight on the front lines.
