Vice Foreign Minister calls for supporting government to protect navigation in the Red Sea

Vice Minister of Foreign and Expatriate Affairs Mustafa Noman called for supporting Yemeni government institutions.

He called for supporting the Coast Guard forces to ensure that they play their role in monitoring and protecting the security of navigation and international trade in the Red Sea.

In his speech during a session related to the security of the Red Sea and the Horn of Africa, within the activities of the eleventh session of the Rome Mediterranean Dialogues Forum held in the Italian city of Naples, he stressed the importance of regional and international cooperation to support the Yemeni government.

In this regard, we welcome the recently launched international partnership to enhance the Yemeni government's capabilities to protect its maritime security, he said.

He pointed out the importance of regional initiatives aimed at enhancing navigation security, protecting global trade and combating piracy, smuggling, and armed robbery in the Red Sea region and the Horn of Africa.

The Vice Foreign Minister stressed that the security of coasts and waterways in the region is a shared regional and international responsibility that affects the security and stability of the region and the movement of global trade.

He confirmed the concerted international and regional efforts and enhancing cooperation and coordination between Yemen and the countries of the Horn of Africa in order to combat illegal migration flows through the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandab, and to confront their increasing challenges, which represent an additional burden and have serious security, humanitarian and social consequences and repercussions, not only on the countries of the region, but also Its negative consequences and effects reach other countries and regions at all levels.
