PM discusses with IMF mission results of Article IV consultations

Prime Minister Salem Saleh bin Braik received Wednesday, the International Monetary Fund mission to Yemen, headed by the head of the mission Ishtar Perez Ruiz.

The two parties discussed results of the resumption of Article IV consultations between the Yemeni government and the Fund, scheduled to conclude tomorrow here.

The meeting reviewed the most prominent discussions and results within the framework of the Article 4 consultations, which resumed this year after an eleven-year hiatus due to the war and the exceptional conditions that Yemen went through, and the aspects they focused on to assess the current economic situation, and the policies required to enhance revenues and improve public debt management, which contributes to strengthening the overall economy and improving the business and investment environment in Yemen, and strengthening the partnership with the private sector.

The meeting stressed the importance of continuing joint coordination to ensure that the results of the consultations are transformed into realistic action programs that support the government's efforts in economic recovery, improving services and alleviating the burdens on citizens.

The Prime Minister praised the technical and advisory role provided by the International Monetary Fund to support the government's efforts to restore economic recovery, enhance monetary and financial stability, and keep pace with the comprehensive reforms that the government has begun implementing during the past period.

They stressed that the successful resumption of Article 4 consultations represents an important milestone in the process of restoring confidence in Yemeni economic and financial institutions, and a step towards enhancing transparency and financial discipline and improving the efficiency of public resource management.

He pointed out that the government is working in close partnership with its regional and international partners to rebuild the economy and improve citizens' livelihoods despite complex challenges.

For her part, the head of the International Monetary Fund mission praised the efforts made by the Yemeni government in implementing difficult and bold reforms aimed at achieving economic stability. Affirming the Technical Fund's support for the government in the path of reforms, developing financial and monetary policy tools, and strengthening the capabilities of government institutions
