A rights forum held in Geneva has accused the Houthi militia of directly obstructing development in Yemen, stealing the country's future by dismantling state institutions and destroying human capital.

The forum, organized by the Development Forum for Dialogue and Human Rights on the sidelines of the 60th session of the UN Human Rights Council, emphasized that any hope for sustainable development in Yemen hinges on ending the Houthi militia's systematic policies and restoring state authority.

The forum highlighted the devastating impact of the Houthi coup on Yemen's development trajectory, including institutional collapse, economic ruin, and societal breakdown.

It stressed that the right to development is fundamental, linked to education, health, economy, and rule of law, and warned that targeting this right threatens Yemen's entire future.
