Minister of Interior Major General Ibrahim Haidan discussed Wednesday with the British Ambassador to Yemen Abda Sharif strengthening cooperation in the security field.
Minister Haidan appreciated the efforts made by the United Kingdom in supporting Yemen, pointing out its active support for holding of the Yemeni Maritime Security Partnership Conference, which was recently held in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, which resulted in positive pledges from a number of international partners to support and qualify the Yemeni Coast Guard Service, in a way that enhances its capabilities in confronting security challenges in territorial waters.
He pointed out the importance of enhancing joint cooperation, especially in the areas of training, qualification, capacity building, and support for security services.
For her part, the British Ambassador praised the efforts made by the Ministry of Interior in the field of combating terrorism, and the speed of the security services in uncovering and arresting those involved in the assassination of the Director of the Cleanliness and Improvement Fund in Taiz Governorate, Iftahan al-Mashhari.
She confirmed UK government's keenness to support Yemen's security and stability efforts.
