Foreign Minister participates in OIC Ministerial Meeting
[26/09/2025 06:21]

NEW YORK - SABA
The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dr. Shaya Zindani participated Friday in the ministerial meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), held on the sidelines of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

In his speech, the Foreign Minister expressed the Republic of Yemen's appreciation to the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the chair of the Islamic summit, and to the sisterly Republic of Turkey, the chair of the current session of the Council of Ministers of the organization, as well as to the General Secretariat of the organization for their significant efforts in serving the issues of the Islamic nation.

He emphasized that the region faces serious challenges that necessitate strengthening Islamic solidarity, unifying stances to confront threats, and working together for the security, stability, and development of peoples through the development of the mechanisms of the OIC and activating its tools.

He pointed out that the Houthi militias continue their war against the Yemeni people and threaten regional and international security through military and economic escalation, while continuing to detain United Nations employees and international organizations in Sana'a and other areas.

The Foreign Minister also reaffirmed the Yemeni government's commitment to a just and sustainable peace based on the three references, praising the positions of the member states in the organization that support the legitimate government and their efforts to end the coup and achieve economic recovery.

He confirmed the Republic of Yemen's full solidarity with the Palestinian people and its rejection of Israel's declaration of its intention to impose complete military control over the Gaza Strip. He stressed that the solution lies in ending the occupation and enabling the Palestinian people to establish their independent state on the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

The Foreign Minister strongly condemned the Israeli attack on the sisterly State of Qatar on September 9, 2025, considering it a serious violation of its sovereignty and a breach of international law and the United Nations Charter.

He called on the international community to bear its responsibilities to deter this aggression and protect the sovereignty of member states.
