The Deputy Governor of Hadramout governorate Amer al-Amery greatly valued the Korean-funded projects and interventions carried out by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in the fields of water and agriculture.
He also highly appreciated the significant efforts made by the IOM to help the farmers to protect their lands and improve their livelihoods.
His remark came during his conversations today, Sunday, with the director of the Water for Peace project, Cecilia and the director of programs at the International Organization for Migration (IOM), Katya, and several representatives of the IOM.
The Water for Peace project funded by the government of South Korea. It aims to reduce flood risks by establishing water barriers to improve flood channels in the areas of Damoun, Mishta and Thibi.
The project provides 200 farmers with agricultural tools for tree spraying operations, train farmers on how to manage fertilizers to ensure the safety of citizens from pesticide effects.
The plan also designed to develop the services of the local water authority by providing a solar energy system for 11 wells in the water field in Tarim and prepare a scientific laboratory to measure the residual effects of pesticide toxins.
Moreover, the project includes cash-for-work for 200 citizens from the Tarim district.
