RIYADH - SABA
The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Dr. Shaya Zindani met Wednesday with the French Ambassador to Yemen, Catherine Corm-Kammoun.
Minister Zindani reviewed the latest developments in Yemen and the region, emphasizing the serious repercussions arising from the Israeli attack on the sisterly State of Qatar.
He praised the joint efforts of the French Republic and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in working towards a path for peace in the Middle East through the "New York Declaration," aimed at achieving a just and comprehensive solution leading to the establishment of a Palestinian state in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.
The meeting also discussed the government's efforts in economic reforms and their positive impact on the lives and livelihoods of citizens, stressing the importance of international community support for these efforts to ensure tangible results on the ground.
Minister Zindani emphasized the necessity for international organizations, agencies, and programs to complete their relocation to the temporary capital, Aden, following the transfer of the UN Resident Coordinator's role. He pointed out that there is no justification for their continued presence in Sana'a under the control of the Houthi militias, which do not adhere to international law and behave like a gang that rejects agreements and humanitarian work.
The Foreign Minister and the French Ambassador discussed the importance of building institutional capacities and training officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other state institutions through long-term courses.
For her part, the French Ambassador welcomed the transfer of the Resident Coordinator's role to Aden and expressed her country's readiness to support the government's efforts in training and qualifying personnel, including support for the Yemeni Diplomatic Institute.
She reiterated France's commitment, in coordination with international donors, to provide support in areas such as agriculture, maternal and child health, development of the fishing sector, and training of national cadres to enhance government efforts in alleviating the suffering of the Yemeni people and achieving economic and living stability.
