MAHRA - SABA
The Police Department in al-Mahra governorate managed to thwart an endeavor to establish the first local drug production lab and seized a criminal network.
The criminal gang planned to produce industrial quantities of Captagon pills and crystal meth, with a production capacity estimated at more than 35,000 Captagon pills per hour and 13 kilograms of crystal meth daily.
The security services have already made a very significant security achievement. The intelligence investigation operation continued for several weeks, led by Dr. Rashid Al-Salahi, Deputy Director of Security – Director of Criminal Investigations in Shahn district and Judge Said Badinar, Attorney General of Shahn, along with Major Naji al-Mas'abi.
The investigative efforts resulted in the arrest of six citizens, while the investigations revealed the involvement of other elements from Arab countries in the plot.
The security devices confirmed that the laboratory was equipped with machines, equipment, and laboratories for testing and quality control, reflecting the scale of funding and regional organization behind the venture.
Al-Salahy hailed the operation as a preemptive security raid, emphasizing that shutting down the lab before it begins operation is a significant security accomplishment.
Judge Baderinar acknowledged that seizing a lab of this scale is a dangerous precedent that reveals the intentions of international gangs to transform Yemen from a transit point into a drug-producing country.
The Director General of Police and Security in the governorate of Mahra Brigadier General Mufti Samoodah greatly celebrated this security achievement saying "This security progress underlining the key role of Yemeni security services, they actually served as the first line of defense in protecting the security of the region from the dangers of organized crime".
