Info. Minister Condemns Houthi Militia's Abduction of UN Staff
[02/09/2025 01:48]
Aden-Saba
Minister of Information, Culture, and Tourism, Muammer al-Eryani, has strongly condemned the Houthi militia's latest abduction of four World Food Programme (WFP) staff members in Sana'a.

The abducted staff members are Iyad Shamsan, Saleh Al-Arbani, Ayman Al-Mutawakel, and Yahya Al-Habshi, bringing the total number of WFP staff abducted to 13.

Al-Eryani emphasized that these abductions are part of a larger pattern of attacks on humanitarian workers in Houthi-controlled areas, including the abduction of six WFP staff members on August 31 and four UNICEF staff members, including Deputy Director Luna Shukri, a Jordanian national.

The Minister condemned the Houthi militia's actions as a serious violation of international humanitarian law and called on the international community to take a firm stance against these violations. He also demanded that the Houthi militia be held fully responsible for the safety of the abducted staff members and called for their immediate release.

Al-Eryani reiterated the need for international organizations to reconsider their presence in Houthi-controlled areas and to relocate their offices to the temporary capital, Aden.
