Minister of Public Health and Population, Dr. Qassem Buhaybeh, chaired two meetings to review emergency preparedness and response plans in light of the current climate situation and potential health risks.
The first meeting, attended by senior health officials, discussed detailed reports on the technical committees' work, including epidemiological surveillance, emergency services, and health facility preparedness.
The Minister emphasized the need for unified efforts and coordination among various sectors to face potential epidemics resulting from climate disasters.
The meeting also reviewed the efforts made in governorates most exposed to floods and torrents, and the need for additional support in terms of logistics, medicine, and health personnel. The Minister stressed the importance of early preparedness in reducing risks and protecting society.
In a separate meeting, Minister Buhaybeh reviewed the progress of the Epidemic Preparedness and Response Project (EPPR), which aims to enhance health sector preparedness and response to emergencies.
He emphasized the importance of maximizing the benefits of the project, particularly in strengthening health systems and laboratory capacities.
