Director of MASAM: 511,355 of landmines, UXO removed from Yemeni regions

The Director General of the King Salman Center's Demining Project in Yemen, known as "MASAM" Osama al-Qusaibi announced that since its launch in 2018 until August 22 of this year, the project teams have managed to remove 511,355 of landmines, unexploded ordnance (UXO) and explosive devices from various Yemeni governorates.

Al-Qusaibi explained, in a statement published by the media office of "MASAM", that the engineering teams affiliated with the project succeeded in removing 349,161 UXO, 147,089 anti-tank mines and 6,840 antipersonnel mines as wells as 8,265 explosive devices.

He added that the technical teams of MASAM have managed to clear 69,500,524 square meters of Yemeni land since its inception until the current date, noting that these efforts contribute to protecting the lives of civilians and facilitating the return of displaced persons to their areas.

The MASAM's operations room stated that its engineering teams managed to remove 828 of landmines, UXO and explosive devices last week, including 783 UXO, 42 anti-tank mines, two anti-personnel mines and one explosive device.

Since the beginning of August until the 22nd the deminers removed 3767 of landmines, UXO and explosive devices, including 3607 UXO, 132 anti-tank mines, 15 explosive devices and 13 anti-personnel mines.

The Iranian regime backed terrorist Houthi militias indiscriminately planted mines in various Yemeni regions, they intended to hide them in different shapes, colors and methods.

The militias' landmines claimed the lives of many children, women and the elderly, caused many others serious injuries or amputations.
