Marib-Saba
The governorate of Marib celebrated World Humanitarian Day on August 12, honoring humanitarian workers in the region. The celebration was marked with a ceremony organized by the Relief and Construction Forum (CRB) in cooperation with the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).
Marib's Deputy Governor, Dr. Abdrabuh Miftah, praised the humanitarian efforts in the governorate, particularly those of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre and the State of Kuwait. He highlighted the challenges facing the local authority in meeting the basic needs of the displaced and host communities, especially with the decline in humanitarian funding from donors.
Dr. Miftah emphasized the need for international humanitarian support to address the growing humanitarian needs in the governorate, which has hosted over 62% of Yemen's displaced population. He called on the UN Humanitarian Representative in Yemen to ensure a fair distribution of humanitarian aid allocations among affected governorates.
The Deputy Governor noted the increasing number of deaths due to malnutrition in Marib, a concerning indicator of the deteriorating humanitarian situation.
