Rights network reveals 5,618 documented Houthi violations against women in eight years

The Yemeni Network for Rights and Freedoms revealed the documentation of 5,618 violations committed by the terrorist Houthi militia against women during the period from January 1, 2017, to July 31, 2025.

The network said in a report that the violations ranged from murder to injury, kidnappings, enforced disappearances, physical and psychological torture, dismissal from public jobs, and forcible child soldier recruitments.

The network indicated that it documented 1,479 killings and 3,398 injuries resulting from shelling, artillery, mine and IED explosions, and sniper attacks. It also documented 547 cases of kidnapping, disappearance, and psychological and physical torture, and 176 cases of forced conscription, including female students.

The Yemeni Network for Rights and Freedoms team also recorded 46 cases of women killed by the Houthi militia, in other incidents that included stabbings, running over with military vehicles, beatings with firearms, or fatalities.

It also documented 211 other injuries committed by the Houthi militia against women, including stabbings with bladed weapons and sharp instruments, running over with military vehicles and vehicles, and physical assaults, including beatings with fists, batons, or rifle butts.

This is similar to what happened to women participating in protests, with 82 injuries, followed by Sana'a Governorate with 21 cases.
