Minister of Industry discusses price reductions with major traders, importers

The Minister of Industry and Trade Mohammad al-Ashwal held elaborated meeting on Sunday with major traders and importers.

The meeting discussed reduction of prices, particularly for essential and consumer goods, in accordance with the new price changes.

During the meeting, attended by Deputy Minister of Industry Salem al-Wali, ministry undersecretaries and Abu Bakr Ba Ubaid Deputy Head of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Aden, Minister al-Ashwal emphasized the ministry's commitment to maintaining a good relationship with the private sector, which is a key partner in economic development.

He urgef need to feel a sense of national responsibility in reducing prices and considering the living conditions faced by citizens under the principle of "no harm and no harassment."

Al-Ashwal called on all traders, importers, and commercial agencies to issue new price lists for all food and consumer goods in line with the recovery of the national currency and exchange rates.

He indicated that a meeting would be held with the governor of the central bank to discuss measures for the recovery of the national currency and stabilization of exchange rates, as well as efforts to provide hard currency for importers.

He pointed out that the National Committee for Regulating Imports will play a significant and central role in organizing and providing essential food goods at competitive prices, and will work to rationalize and regulate imports to prevent the depletion of hard currency.

He praised the high national sense of responsibility shown by the private sector in addressing many critical junctures faced by the country.

For his part, the Deputy Head of the Chamber of Commerce emphasized the importance of this meeting with the Ministry of Industry, which serves as the true umbrella for the private sector.

He pointed out the necessity of working as a unified team to support currency stability and alleviate the difficult living conditions faced by citizens, while ensuring food security.
