The Governor of Shabwa Awadh bin al-Wazir has said:"The Governorate of Shabwa received support amounting to $10 million provided by the sisterly United Arab Emirates."
The Emirati support will be allocated to the road sector in the governorate, said bin al-Wazir during the regular meeting of the executive office in the governorate on Wednesday.
He directed relevant authorities to promptly conduct technical and engineering studies for projects aimed at developing and improving the infrastructure of road networks in Shabwa, to achieve a qualitative shift in both primary and secondary networks, emphasizing the need for their completion as soon as possible.
Governor bin al-Wazir highlighted the necessity of introducing national industries in the governorate, noting that the procedures for establishing the first industrial zone in the governorate are nearing completion.
He affirmed that the governorate possesses a vast wealth of natural and marine resources that qualify it to establish various types of industries, especially in the fields of oil refining, cement production and fish canning.
The Shabwa executive committee, in the presence of the Secretary-General of the local council in the governorate, Abd-Rabu Hashlah and the governorate’s deputies, discussed evaluation reports on the work and activities of several administrative offices in the governorate during the first half of the current year.
The meeting reviewed detailed reports on the level of financial resource collection in the governorate, along with an assessment of the activities of the offices of culture, tourism, antiquities and museums, the General Authority for Books, environmental protection, and the National Committee for Women.
The meeting stressed the need to continue efforts to improve the level of financial resource collection in the governorate and address shortcomings in some areas.
It commended the level of cultural activity in the governorate, noting its significant cultural transformations and its distinction at the national level, while indicating readiness to hold the Shabwa Book Fair and appreciating the private sector's participation in enhancing and developing the infrastructure for the tourism sector in the governorate.
The efforts made by the Antiquities Office in the governorate to preserve its historical treasures and famous archaeological sites were praised, emphasizing the importance of protecting these sites across various districts in the governorate and recommending the activation of women's development departments in all districts.
The Shabwa executive committee welcomed the upcoming implementation of the climate resilience project for vulnerable groups in rural and urban areas of Yemen, which includes several of its governorates, including Shabwa.
