Member of the Presidential Leadership Council, Major General Aidaroos al-Zubaidi, met with the Governor of the Central Bank, Ahmed Ghaleb Al-Ma'baqi, in the temporary capital, Aden today.
Leadership Council member al-Zubaidi was briefed on the Central Bank's performance and the measures taken to regulate the financial and banking sector, halt the rapid devaluation of the local currency, maintain market stability, and provide the necessary liquidity to finance import bills, pay salaries to state employees, and secure fuel for power plants.
Major General al-Zubaidi also listened to a detailed explanation of the ongoing measures to complete the relocation of the main headquarters of commercial and Islamic banks to the interim capital, Aden, and the oversight mechanism in place to monitor their compliance with the highest standards of compliance and international controls to combat money laundering and terror financing.
This will contribute to facilitating banking services and enhancing the flow of commercial activity in accordance with internationally recognized standards.
