[23/07/2025 12:41]
NAIROBI - SABA

Chargé d'Affaires of the Yemeni Embassy in Nairobi Abdulsalam al-Awdhi met Wednesday with the Director of the Middle East Department at the Kenyan Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ambassador Joseph Masila to discuss ways to enhance bilateral relations and security and economic cooperation between the two friendly countries.

Al-Awdhi emphasized the depth of the historical relations between Yemen and Kenya and the positive role of the Yemeni community in Mombasa.

He pointed out to the common security threats and the coordination and collaboration between the terrorist Houthi militias and the terrorist al-Shabaab group.

He also discussed the details of the Yemeni National Resistance naval forces' seizure of an Iranian arms shipment comprising about 750 tons that was en route to the Houthi militias.

He called on Kenya and the world to classify the Houthi group as a terrorist organization, as it poses a threat to maritime navigation in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, jeopardizing the security and stability of the region and the marine environment, and causing the sinking of several ships and oil spills.

For his part, the Director of the Middle East Department at the Kenyan Ministry of Foreign Affairs praised the depth of bilateral relations and the importance of enhancing cooperation and security coordination in light of the Houthi militias' targeting of the Red Sea and collaboration with terrorist groups.

He reaffirmed Kenya's steadfast support for Yemen in the face of the threat of terrorism.
