Cabinet Discusses Economic and Financial Developments, and Efforts to Foil Houthi Plots
[16/07/2025 06:36]
Aden-Saba
The Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Salem Saleh bin Breik, held a regular meeting in Aden to discuss recent economic, financial, and service developments.

Key issues addressed included the decline in the national currency's value and its impact on commodity prices and citizens' living conditions, as well as challenges in the service sector, particularly electricity.

The Cabinet reviewed coordinated government efforts with the Presidential Leadership Council to thwart the Houthi militia's terrorist plots and support the defense and security institutions in completing the state’s restoration and ending the coup.

They also discussed urgent measures to limit the deterioration of the national currency's exchange rate and regulate the banking market.

Prime Minister bin Breik briefed the Cabinet on recent developments on various fronts, including the Houthi militia’s renewed terrorist attacks on international shipping.

He highlighted the government's continued efforts to improve basic services despite resource shortages and reduced external support.

The Cabinet emphasized the need for intensified oversight of resources and directing spending towards priorities that directly affect citizens' lives.

They also reviewed proposals to be submitted to the Crisis Management Committee regarding the Houthi militia's economic war against the Yemeni people.

Furthermore, the Cabinet approved an agreement for a project to finance, build, and operate a household gas production unit. They were also briefed on security and military performance, efforts to enhance security and stability, and achievements in combating terrorism.

The Cabinet stressed that the Houthi militia's economic and financial measures are null and void and warned citizens and financial institutions against dealing with the militia's counterfeit currency.

They called for urgent economic and financial support from the international community to consolidate stability and prevent a comprehensive collapse.
