ADEN - SABA
Central Bank Governor, Ahmed Ghaleb, met with European Union ambassadors, led by the EU Ambassador to Yemen Gabriel Munuera Viñals, in Aden to discuss the current economic situation in Yemen.
The meeting reviewed the latest economic developments, particularly the unfavorable financial and monetary trends resulting from the decline in domestic resources due to the halt in oil exports caused by Houthi militia attacks.
The decrease in external aid, both official and humanitarian, and its negative impact on poverty and food insecurity were also discussed.
The meeting also touched on the effects of designating the Houthi group as a terrorist organization on external transfers and supply chains, particularly in the humanitarian sector. Additionally, the Central Bank's development programs and capacity-building initiatives, supported by international organizations and friendly countries, were reviewed.
