Information Minister Slams UNMHA's Failure to Achieve Mandate
[14/07/2025 02:40]
Aden-Saba
Minister of Information, Culture, and Tourism, Moammer Al-Eryani, has criticized the United Nations Mission to Support the Hudaydah Agreement (UNMHA) for its failure to achieve any tangible progress in its mandate since its establishment in January 2019.

Al-Eryani stated that the mission has been unable to facilitate the implementation of the Stockholm Agreement, which aimed to cease hostilities and redeploy forces outside the city and ports of Hudaydah. The Houthi militia has continued to bring in reinforcements and maintain armed presence in the city, while the mission has failed to hold them accountable.

The minister accused UNMHA of becoming a cover for the Houthi militia's crimes and violations, including its daily attacks on civilians and its use of Hudaydah as a launchpad for terrorist operations. He emphasized that the mission's inability to act has emboldened the Houthis to continue their aggression.

Al-Eryani called for an end to UNMHA's mandate, stating that it has become necessary to bring an end to the current state of chaos and impunity. He highlighted the need for a new approach to address the crisis in Yemen and ensure accountability for those responsible for violations.
